About Me

Hello, I’m Koshi, born and raised in Japan, and I’ve led a nomadic life since high school. My journey includes studying in diverse countries like the Philippines, the United States, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, and Malaysia. These experiences have shaped a unique sensibility, blending Japanese roots with international perspectives. While staying in Thailand, I found myself amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis. Instead of setbacks, I embraced the situation, using the time to delve into studies in web design and photography.
I bring a blend of international experience, adaptability, and creative skills to every project.
Education
I enrolled in the Computer Science and Information Technology department at Taiwan Normal University. This was the first significant moment in my encounter with programming. Here, I took units in the fundamental programming language, C. Learning C opened up the world of programming for me, and I believe it equipped me with techniques applicable to various languages today.
The textbooks were in English, and the professors spoke in Chinese. I brought my own reference books in Japanese. Through this multilingual exposure, I not only learned concepts in computer languages but also developed the skill to search and learn in various languages for future studies.
Although I did not graduate, this experience became a key point in my life journey.
At Web Courses Bangkok, I enrolled in the Web Professional course, where I diligently learned the fundamentals and advanced aspects of web development alongside a diverse group of international peers. The curriculum covered techniques and theories for designing on a blank canvas, practical exercises in design using tools like Figma, replication of actual pages using HTML/CSS, development of personal projects using WordPress, and the skills to deploy a website from a local to an online environment.
The learning extended to a wide range of topics, including domains, servers, and aspects of web production such as marketing and SEO. This school provided a crucial learning experience, enabling me to acquire skills in design and the practical process of building websites that I couldn’t achieve in Taiwan. Upon completion, I gained a valuable network of connections, including individuals pursuing freelance careers and those entering the marketing departments of companies.
I completed the Full Stack Web Development Course at NEXT Academy in Malaysia. This school primarily focused on coding, a skill I had felt somewhat uneasy about since my time in Taiwan. Through practical exercises, I successfully wrote code from frontend to backend, overcoming my initial apprehensions. I engaged in hands-on practices covering a range of languages, from foundational HTML/CSS/JS to advanced technologies such as Node.js, Svelte, SQL, Docker, Git, Babel, and others currently in use.
In the area where I lacked confidence the most—coding—I immersed myself in observing, writing, and learning through numerous examples. As a result, I now possess the confidence to code proficiently and effectively, having mastered various languages and technologies used in the field.
Through the three learning experiences mentioned above, I have acquired a comprehensive set of skills encompassing all aspects of web development, from design to code, and through the phases of planning, development, and operations. This journey has allowed me to strike a balance and become proficient in the entire spectrum of skills required for effective web production.
